More festivals, boozy events and parties than we can handle

If you're like us, we're already set to go all out this weekend, seeing as there will be a midweek break the upcoming Wednesday. Till then, apart from headline events like Baybeats, Singapore Night Festival and Wine Lust to keep you thoroughly occupied, pack it in with boozy brunches, DJ nights and a farmers market too.

Baybeats

FESTIVAL
The 17th edition of Esplanade's annual alternative music festival, Baybeats, is back. Aside from numerous local and regional bands and musicians performing, they've also teamed up with the peeps behind EMONIGHTSG for a special edition of the raucous party at Esplanade Annexe Studio. This year also marks the last time you'll get to see acts perform at the Powerhouse Stage to make way for the Esplanade's new waterfront theatre. Aug 17-19

PARTY
The aforementioned EMONIGHTSG takes it up a notch with a free-entry, all-ages bash at the Esplanade Annexe Studio for its second anniversary. You might be jostling with some underaged kiddos this time round, but the classic emo screamo tracks from Look Ma, No Hands will all be worth it. Aug 17

PARTY
UK-born, Berlin-based artist Luca Lozano makes his Singapore debut at Headquarters for a night of breakbeat-infused house, colorful synths and bleepy techno. Aug 17

QUIZ
Gather up a group of your muggle friends and head on over to Tree Lizard Restaurant & Bar in Dempsey for a night of magical proportions. The Harry Potter-themed quiz night will feature thematically-appropriate cocktails and food too, so come hungry and thirsty. Aug 17

FESTIVAL
It’s that time of the year again—when the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct lights up after the sun goes down for a full week of nocturnal revelry. The Singapore Night Festival is officially back. This year, they’ve gone beyond just local and international artists to include contributions from pretty unexpected individuals too. Aug 17-25


Classic Cheese Burger

FOOD 
Grand Hyatt Singapore’s flagship restaurant, mezza9, is having its first-ever food truck, to launch the US-originated Beyond Burger—a plant-based, gluten-free and soy-free burger patty. Come by the truck parked along the hotel’s driveway, from 5pm to 8:30pm, for mezza9’s take on the sustainable, meat-free burger: for $10 nett, you have a choice of either the Classic Cheese Burger with vegan cheddar and vegan mayo, or the Modern Asian Burger stuffed with Asian slaw, furikake, sriracha and wasabi mayo. EXHIBITION
The World’s Loneliest Bookstore explores what the last bookstore on earth would look like in a post-apocalyptic reality; somehow we aren’t surprised that it’ll be at Gillman Barracks. The exhibition presented by Books Actually and DISINI will showcase a selection of titles from local and international authors, plus set the backdrop for book launches, readings and installations throughout the duration of the event. FOOD
RWS Street Eats, Resorts World Sentosa's own heartland-centric gastronomic affair, returns to the Malaysian Food Street. That's 11 whole days of gorging on some of the best hawkers and eaters from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. Through Aug 19

CONCERT
He's come a long way from singing theme songs for Channel 8 dramas, but homeboy JJ Lin remembers his roots by bringing his “Sanctuary” World Tour to the Singapore Indoor Stadium for four whole days. Through Aug 19

FILM
The annual open air cinema Films At The Fort (FATF) is back with even more award-winning films, new releases, Singapore premieres and nostalgic classics at the natural amphitheater, Fort Canning Park. You’ll get to enjoy these great films under the stars while munching on some gourmet bites and sipping on some fantastic vino. Through Aug 19

DRINK
Whether you know exactly how to describe its taste (without using the word smooth), or fancy something that’s just easy to drink, Wine Lust 2018 promises to have a little something for everyone. Returning for the second time, Wine Lust presents an outstanding selection of 15 award-winning restaurants, 40 specialist wine events and 500 wine varietals. Through Sep 10

Sky High Brunch

PARTY
While the view of Singapore's skyline from Ce La Vi at night is stupendous, you should also take the chance to see it during the day. And what better than to swing by their hectic and super fun daytime Sky High Brunch party, where you can sip on endless glasses of boozy, get your munchers on delicious grub and boogie to groovy tunes. DRINK
Oenophiles take note, this is probably the booziest brunch affair on the Wine Lust 2018 calendar. Botanico at The Garage is throwing a ticketed event where you'll be able to taste over 96 wines of your choosing from noon to 3pm. There'll be live food stations, music and special prices for bottles too, in case you're looking to buy home a few prized picks. Aug 18

PARTY
It's set to be an epic night at Kilo Lounge as they team up with agency Collective Minds to bring multi-talented UK DJ Yasmin for an evening of soulful electronica. She'll be supported by fellow female DJ Amy Dabbs, for a set aptly titled Ladies of the DarkAug 18

DRINK
Have a taste of Jigger & Pony's new cocktail menu ahead of their September reopening as they hold a pop-up preview sesh at sister bar Gibson. They'll be slaking our thirst with various interpretations of martinis and a few Asian classics, among other offerings, all with the same elevated, hospitable experience we've all come to know and love from them. PARTY
It's gonna be a crazy Mexican revelry as Kinki brings in amigos Eatmepoptart to present The Upside Down—a party we know we won't soon forget. Get ready for plenty of tequila shots as the deck maestros belt out indie rock, disco and all your favorite guilty pleasures till the wee hours of the morning. Aug 18

EXHIBITION
The first in a series of events as part of the Singapore Science Festival, the Singapore Maker Extravaganza held at Our Tampines Hub is a gathering of the island's makers, tinkerers and hobbyists in celebration of the all-encompassing DIY movement and culture. There are over 350 booths and demonstations to keep you occupied the whole weekend. Aug 18-19

DANCE
Local dance company Maya Dance Theatre returns with the third major production of its five-year, five-act series: PANCHA 3—Flowers Don’t Bloom All The Time takes a sobering look at the realities of coping with sexual and domestic violence in Singapore, navigated sensitively through the medium of contemporary dance. EXHIBITION
The eighth edition of Singapore Art Museum’s annual family-friendly contemporary art exhibition explores the concept of time. Ten artists and art collectives from around the world have taken over SAM at 8Q for Imaginarium: Into the Space of Time, presenting immersive and interactive installations exploring the tales and theories that shape our memories and future. FESTIVAL
Pink Dot may be over, that's just the icing on the cake. Gear up (and glitter up) for Singapore's LGBTQI festival (and pride season), IndigNation, as it returns for its 14th year. Kicking off the season of the month-long festival of events by and for the queer community, is the highly anticipated IndigNation Queer Film Festival. MARKET
Spa Esprit and Open Farm Community come together for a first-of-its-kind Farmers and Healers Market, right on the gardens of the farm-to-table restaurant. We're just as excited as you are about the return of The Lion King to our shore for its 20th anniversary It's been more than two decades since the epic musical film about lions in Africa first came into our lives, and again in 2011 when the musical made its Southeast Asian debut. EXHIBITION
2018 has shaped up to be a fantastic year for Marvel. Besides the two epic movies releasing to staggering global success, they're also presenting Marvel Studios: Ten Years of Heroes at ArtScience Museum, which delves into the science and tech behind the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe. EXHIBITION
Dutch artist Theo Jansen is sending his prized Strandbeests to our shores. In fact entirely non-living, his world-renowned creatures made of PVC and wood are powered by wind, and spend their days moving gracefully across beaches (hence their name, which translates to “beach animal” in Dutch). Head to the ArtScience Museum for an exclusive look at this new species, where you can look at “fossils” of past beests, and even walk alongside 13 original Strandbeests. Through Sep 30
