Steamroom with The Pillar and Stones is yet another multi-concept venue in Singapore, providing more than just nosh for the average patron. This particular one combines a tea room, a restaurant, an art lab and a retail space within the 5000 sq ft space. The idea was conceptualized by local contemporary artist Wong Lip Chin, who also designed the space which is inspired by three movements—Memphis Milano, Bauhaus and Brutalism. Expect lots of bold colors, striking patterns and a lush garden.

Steamroom focuses on "kaffatea", which means coffee and tea. On the menu, they feature Chinese teas from Taiwan and China, all priced at $7.50. Options include Kung Fu Red Tea from Anhui, Winter Peak Oolong from Nantou and Dragon Well (Long Jing) from Hangzhou. Coffee wise, house blends made with three single-origin beans from Kenya, Ethiopia and Costa Rica are $4.50 while a cup of single-origin blend will cost $5.50. 

The Pillar's menu is by Chef Stephan Zoisl, who has worked in a few Michelin-starred restaurants like Steirereck in Vienna, Austria; The Fat Duck in Berkshire, United Kingdom; and Alinea in Chicago, USA. For a red, hot and sweaty experience, opt for the Ghost Kimchi which they've claimed will be a "punch of ghost chilli" that's both "intense" and "fiery". Mains are less in-your-face wit hthe 2015L Slider which consists of pulled pork topped with spicy dijon mustard and BBQ sauce ($19), and Salmon Ochazuke, a luxurious bowl of Norwegian salmon and salmon caviar, complemented with a teapot of smoked tea dashi ($24). Desserts are "bloody" and red, with Sundae Bloody Sundae that comes with popcorn, chocolate and caramel sauce ($14), and the Inspired by Red, a delectable combination of strawberries, raspberries, strawberry mousse and sorbet ($14).
