A host of mall bazaars, Artbox Singapore, and the annual New2U thrift extravaganza

Mayday; May is full of markets and it’s terrible for all our wallets. But if you’re down for some retail therapy this month, the good news is you’ll be spoilt for choice—especially with the long-awaited Artbox Singapore finally happening, as well as the annual cult favorite thrift event by New2U.

Katong Square Lifestyle & Vintage Market May 2018 (May 11)

A new month calls for a new Katong Square market, which, with its vinyl records and vintage goods, touts itself as Singapore’s only true blue vintage flea market. Resident booths include familiar names like The Retro Factory, Memory Lane and The Great Vinyl Exchange—where you can pick up anything from retro haute couture to Art Deco pieces. This month, shop alongside live entertainment by local band Street Crickets, the market’s line-up of old-school DJs, and a magician.

New2U Bazaar (May 19)

Singapore’s thrift scene might seem desolate to most, but one star has consistently shone above the rest—New2U Thrift Shop, a subsidiary under the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations; and they’re back with their annual bazaar. The thrifting madness gets multiplied tenfold, with the entire space opening up from its usual one-room affair to display heaps of pre-loved clothes, designer bags and more on sale. Doors open at 10am, and don’t underestimate the local community of thrift-seekers.

Head down to the Bayfront event space to shop the 400 regional vendors selling everything from food to trinkets to Instagrammable moments. We can’t promise that crowd control will be any better than last year, but 400 booths at the island’s largest creative market does sound enticing.
