The Seafood International Market & Restaurant

Since it moved from its old home down the road to the renovated East Coast Seafood Centre, The Seafood International Market & Restaurant seems to be a little overwhelmed by its competition. Although there have been diners the few times we’ve been past, the restaurant certainly hasn’t been at capacity as many of its neighbors have been.

Still, the food fares better than its popularity would suggest. Their point of difference continues to be the fresh vegetables, desserts and, of course, seafood—all on display and available to be hand picked and placed in your shopping basket and then cooked to your specifications. Everything tastes fresh and the availability of smaller serves makes this a good place for couples or groups that want to sample lots of different menu items.

We suggest you stick to the seafood since this really is their strength: Dishes like steamed prawns with garlic, braised broccoli with scallops, steamed red grouper and mixed seafood hor fun are all worthy and delicious menu items.

Stay away from the obvious menu weaknesses, like their crispy roasted chicken.
