District 10 Bar & Restaurant
The buzz: Fans of District 10 Bar & Restaurant, once upon a time tucked away at Winstedt Road, will be psyched to know that they’ve relocated just under a month ago to their new digs at the infinitely more accessible location of UE Square, just a few doors down from sister restaurant Bontá.
The vibe: We sure do miss the old spot’s charm, but its reincarnation is sleeker and more modern and the laidback ambiance we’ve come to expect is still alive and well. Loyal patrons may even spot familiar furnishings that have been reinstated around the open and airy venue (hint: Look up).
The food: With consultant chef and co-owner Luca Pezzera directing things in the kitchen, you can look forward to Italian classics like pastas and pizzas (both from $18) including our pick: The jamón ibérico pizza ($29). If you’re not doing carbs at the moment (shame on you), there are a few choice slabs of charcoal-grilled steak, including Argentinean rib-eye ($29) and Wagyu striploin ($58), as well as their signature District 10 salad ($12) or a version with duck and mango ($18). Those looking for nibbles will appreciate the foie gras-parmesan croquettes ($16), charcuterie platter ($28) or fried calamari with wasabi-spiked mayo ($14).
The drinks: In case you’re tempted to forget that they’re a bar, their range of cocktails is pretty comprehensive, with everything from classics (from $14) to passion fruit daiquiris ($15), not to mention Thai mojitos ($15) and their own concoctions like Kopitini and Sticky Morning—Jägermeister, Amaretto, butterscotch and Baileys (both $16). Beer drinkers aren’t forgotten, with offerings including Kirin ($10) and Leffe ($12).
Why you’ll be back: It’s difficult to find a good spot for after work drinks with just the right vibe, and that serves food that’s not just deep-fried pub grub. As a bonus, happy hour runs from when they open till 7pm daily.
