The only thing worse than turning up at your favorite restaurant and finding there’s no table, is spending hours on the phone trying to reserve one. The idea of booking online is nothing new; but it finally seems to have reached a critical mass here, with new arrival Chope (www.chope.com.sg) throwing it’s chef’s hat into the ring and offering reservations for 13 (and counting) high-end spots, including The Disgruntled Chef, Krish, Cocotte and Senso. That’s fewer than Reservations.SG, which launched late last year and now has almost 70 (typically more mid-range) venues onboard, but taken together they offer real hope in the ongoing battle against the telephone engaged tone.
