Everyone’s favourite Hallmark holiday is back and we know you’re probably starting to run of out dining ideas for your special date this Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re out to impress or appreciate your lover, here are three unpretentious restaurants that’ll take you on a whirlwind romance with both your food and your date (and they won’t even know of the last minute planning).
Tucked away in a cosy area of Tanglin, take your special someone to this modern day take of the classic Japanese "Wabi-Sabi" concept that sets the tone just right for a date night. For the 6-course set dinner, start the meal with a portion of the Tartar served with Amaebi Uni and Cavier followed by the cold dish, Japanese Torotto Tomato marinated with Dashi before savouring the creamy Oyster Ginza Yaki, a baked oyster served with special Ginza sauce, one of Fat Cow’s specialities. The next course would comprise of the light Shiromi Sakana Iso Fumi, a white fish simmered in seaweed broth before the main course is served. Tuck into a portion of the impressive and flavourful Wagyu Omi Beef Sumibiyaki (150g) served with vegetables. The meat is cooked according to your individual preference and is grilled on an earthen charcoal stove to bring out all the natural flavours of the meat. To conclude the meal on a sweet note, savour the house made Chocolate Dessert.
If you need a lunch option, Valentine’s set lunch is also available featuring the Tokusen Don with ebi tempura, wagyu cubes, uni, caviar, ikura, unagi and salmon mentai and a White Peach Momo Sorbet as the paired dessert.
The set lunch is priced at $68++ per person and is available from now to Feb 15 while the 6- course set dinner is priced at $188++ per person and is available from Feb 10-14. Dine in on Feb 14 and your lady gets a rose to complement the occasion.
