Get your most fab outfit ready and update your Grindr, Her, Tinder and OKC profiles because it's time for local LGBT festival (and pride season), IndigNation.

The LGBT community in Singapore has been facing ongoing issues—not just personal ones, but from the government as well—for many decades. This year's IndigNation theme, “Unafraid to Assemble” is based on the events surrounding the recent Pink Dot. The organizers had no choice but to put up barriers at Hong Lim Park to ensure that only Singaporeans and PRs could participate. Also, Singapore branches of international brands and companies were not allowed to support the event. But nonetheless, the community persevered and saw 40,000 attendees plus 120 local sponsors placed on the right side of history.

The month-long affair starts off with the festival’s Opening Party at DYMK; a simple assembly of people where participants and organizers can chat each other up over drinks and nibbles from 7-9:30pm, followed by the second edition of Natural Education: A Queer Conference, a comprehensive weekend chockfull of public discussions (and some private ones that you'll have to register for), from serious ones like the facts and myths of PrEP and personal ones where panelists discuss bisexual and pansexual experiences in Singapore, to fun ones like a workshop on the basics of running entertainment events, hosted by the boisterous and fun-loving Becca D'Bus.

There's also a whole myriad of exciting events, readings, film screenings and literature, including Sayang/Chellame: A Multilingual Queer Love Poetry Event on Aug 11, the popular IndigNation Queer Films Festival on Aug 18-21, Transit 2, the second edition of literature and arts by transgender Singaporeans on Aug 19, an epic film experience with pre-movie dinner, drinking and after party hosted by The Glory Hoes on Aug 25 and lots more.
