The Year of the Rooster is upon us. All that spring cleaning and uncovering lost memories and coins beneath your bed is now over. But now comes the fun part; meeting all your favorite cousins and not-so-favorite aunties and uncles who’ll be asking you the same questions year in, year out. If you want to relax after a day of interrogation (or avoid it altogether), here are some parties and events save your soul.

BottlesXO “Let's Yum Seng” Wine Tasting (Jan 26)

BottlesXO source their wines from family-owned boutique wineries they’ve personally visited themselves. This CNY, they’re organizing a wine tasting event with a selection of European vino and festive snacks at their private rooftop near Robertson Quay. It’s a one-for-one deal, as long as both you and the friend you’re bringing have the app on your phones.

Where: #03-01, 69 Tong Watt Rd.

How much: $15

Tiny Rebel CNY Tap Takeover (Jan 26)

Award-winning Welsh brewery Tiny Rebel Brewing is taking over the taps of craft beer bar Malthouse. They’ll be serving their signatures—2015 champion beer of Britain, the Cwtch; Marshmallow Porter, which mixes the roasty qualities of a dark ale with sweetness of the marshmellow (even sold out within 36 hours of the first brew); and and the fruity Clwb Tropicana, which combines flavors like peach, pineapple, passionfruit and mango.

Where: Malthouse, 685 East Coast Rd.

How much: From $10 a pint

CNY Lockdown (Jan 28)

Skyline Club and Lounge is hosting their second edition of their interesting, fresh concept to drinking, Lockdown. Basically, everyone will enjoy their share of free flow alcohol, as long as nobody breaks the rules, which include dressing to theme, arriving before 10pm, you’re not allowed to leave the premises for any reason (not even for toilet or smoke breaks) and neither are you permitted to puke. For this CNY edition, the dress theme is oriental, so if you wanna take up the challenge, whip out them qipaos and changshans for a boozy-filled night.

Where: Skyline Club and Lounge

How much: $35

Escape CNY 2017 Party (Jan 28)

Local LGBT organization She+Pride is throwing a queer party to help you escape from all the hullabaloo that come with house visiting. Calling all women, this is a “for womyn by womyn” event. Of course, there’ll be special performances from local acoustic folk musicians, Amanda Tee and Zsa Zsa Scorpion and music by other DJs. The ticket price is inclusive of a drink.

Where: Artistry Cafe

How much: $20 (online); $22 (at the door)

Ladies District CNY Party (Jan 28)

This quirky LGBT-friendly bar organizes countless parties for the community. They were also the fundraising party venue for  M1 Singapore Fringe Festival’s Pretty Butch. If you’re looking for a place to drink and party over this grueling season, they’re throwing a strict girls-only party, where men are “subjected to approval” at the door. DJ V. Foo and DJ Meh will be in charge of dishing hip hop, R&B and trap music at the party. There’ll also be a bunch of drink and bottle promotions all night long for Black Label, Chivas, Jack Daniel, tequilas ($5 each, with a minimum order of 10 shots) and other beers

Where: Ladies District Bar, 68 Dunlop St.

How much: $10 (inclusive of one drink)

Beers on the Lawn (Jan 28-29)

If you’re not going out to visit relatives (or if you wanna get away from nosy relatives asking why you’re single) on the first and second day of CNY, head over to PS.Cafe for their fun, social event, Beers on the Lawn, where they’ll be serving ice cold craft beers and ciders like Cockies' Surf Coast Blonde, Mac's Great White Cloudy Wheat and Napoleone Apple Cider. PS: no dogs are allowed at the event, unfortunately.

Where: P.S Cafe, 28B Harding Rd.

How much: $10 per bottle

Chinese New Year 凉茶 Beer Party (Jan 29)

This cozy beerhouse known for its selection of some great craft beers is offering two hours of free-flow beer from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, which includes their Gingerbread Stout, Singel, Pils and VIPA (Virgindia Pale Ale), from 6:30pm. Then, at 8:30pm, they’ll be serving special featured beers from Stigbergets Bryggeri, Thornbridge Brewery, Buxton Brewery, Innocence Brewing and others.

Where: Good Luck Beerhouse, 9 Haji Ln.
