Your resolution to stay and eat healthy probably flew out the window this past weekend. If you’re too unmotivated to do anything about it, gather your friends to work off all the pineapple tarts and bak kwa you’ve been indulging in. Alternatively, you could team up with that and do some good by participating in runs that support some great social causes, or compete against your buddies in some competitive ones. Either way, you’re doing your body a favor.

Runners Convention Road & Trail 2017 (Feb 10-12)

After two successful editions in the previous years, this event is back with a range of fitness-related activities taking place over the span of three days, like a practical training workshop by Hong Kong 100 female champion Wyan Chow and ActiveSG coaches, Luis Cunha, Steven Quek and Melvin Tan; and sports seminars by a series of experts in the field like Janet and Steve, organizers of Hong Kong 100. As for the races, you can choose either to join an 8km road race, 17.5km trail race or join both which will last goes on for 25.5km. It’s a timed race, so you gotta complete them under three and a half hours. Tickets start from $38.

Safari Run (Feb 17)

Yes, it's happening at the Singapore Zoo. You can either join in this fun safari run on a competitive or non-competitive level across 2.5km, 5.5km and 10km routes, but make sure you pick one of the four animal icon teams—Ah Meng the Orangutan, Chawang the Asian Elephant, Canola the Manatee and Sunny the Hornbill—as each one supports the conservation of a certain species. Tickets are priced from $40.

Relay for Life 2017 (Feb 18-19)

It’s not a run per se but at least you’ll be out and about supporting a great cause. This 17-hour event (over a span of two days) organized by Singapore Cancer Society includes a celebratory lap-running activity for cancer survivors and many other exciting activities. The event is categorized into three themes—Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back—where guest celebrities like Nathan Hartono, Benjamin Kheng, Desmond Tan and Romeo Tan will be there to support the cause as well. Other highlights include light saber performances, a silent disco party and a sunrise yoga session.Tickets are available from $15.

Run for Hope (Feb 19)

Marina Run (Feb 25)

Race through Gardens by the Bay, Tanjong Rhu Promenade and East Coast Park with views of the waterfront at this marathon with 5km, 10km and 21km categories. For the less serious participants, the 5km fun run will have volunteers and families of runners armed with water pistols for some wholesome fun. Tickets are priced from $43.

Terry Fox Run (Feb 26)

Probably the OG of all running events, the Terry Fox Run is back this year and will be held at East Coast Park. Organized by a group of local volunteers, this run will raise funds for cancer research in Singapore in honor of the legendary Terry Fox, who kept running even with an amputated right leg, all in the name of fundraising. Join the non-competitive 5km or 10km race, and feel free to make some donations.
